I am pleased to announce the Kickstarter to launch “The World Next Door” was a success! Backer surveys will be going out shortly, and I’ll be working on the final version of the book after the conclusion of Metrocon in Tampa, Florida.
If you’re in, or near, the Tampa Bay area, consider coming down to the Convention Center and checking out the many talented creators hanging out in Artist Alley at Metrocon. Jessica, the artist for The World Next Door is here, and I just met Zeiva from Deviantart today! There are wonderful celebrity guests and cool panels as well.
I’m also open for commissions, both on the AA floor and online, just shoot me an email if you’re interested. Prices are listed on the FAQ page. With the upcoming official release of The World Next Door graphic novel, make sure you’re subscribed to my newsletter to catch all major announcements.
On a final note, I’m doing 12 cute chibi dragons for Smaugust this month, each connected to a month’s birthstone. I’m not sure yet if these will be available for merchandise, but keep an eye on my Instagram to see them and pick your favorite!
I’ll be back after the con to update the galleries, featured items in the shop, and more– until then, check out what I’ve mentioned in this post if you’re interested, and have a spectacular day!
The Shop page has been added to the menu on the main page, and links to the two online store options available. For photo prints, posters, and merchandise like phone cases, totes, t-shirts, etc…. check out the storefront on red bubble; and for more limited items, like art prints, original work for sale, and sketchbook compilations, check out the etsy store.
As always, links to published books are under the “Projects” section, where you can click on the title link to be directed to where they’re for sale (if they’re online for sale). I’ve added the 31 Witches sketchbook direct link to this section as well. I’m so excited it’s finally done!!!
In other news, lots of exciting convention season ramping up is going on. I’m working on creating some smaller things to test out at my table, like charms and pins. If you haven’t yet, check out the Events page where I’ve posted my con schedule for the year.
The World Next Door is also on its way to completion, as well as a fantasy romance novelette I’ve been working on; so hopefully, I’ll keep rolling out the updates. If you want to make sure you keep up to date and never miss out when something new hits, subscribe to my newsletter under the Contact Me! page. I only send out website updates and special bulletins, no spam! 😀
The galleries have been updated, and new announcements are coming soon!
I’ve been working hard putting together an online store to sell prints and possibly merchandise as well. I’m also setting up my schedule for the year, so there will be several conventions that I plan to attend and I’ll list them soon.
I hope everyone’s having a great 2017 so far– and if you haven’t heard, check out my new writing on wattpad!
I’ve also taken the last poll’s results into consideration, and have been looking into vendors to sell art prints online. I’m trying to mix cost and quality to provide the best options for people looking to order prints. I hope to have it up and running in time for Christmas orders, so that’s pretty high on my to-do list, second right now only to NaNoWriMo, which has devoured my November.
So, essentially the first week of December is going to be a lot of grinding for the website/projects/prints. Not to mention, getting my Christmas card design drawn and ordered for this year. For those of you that follow me on instagram (@jiko29), you’ve probably seen the prelim sketch already. 🙂
I’m also debating, if I can wrap up everything that’s waiting on the drawing board in two weeks, maybe offering up 12 days of requests for Christmas, where you can chime in on twitter or instagram what you’d like me to draw. It’s just a thought, for now; we’ll see how it goes. Anyway, I hope all of you out there have a fantastic weekend!
P.S. if you want to comment on any of my upcoming projects/ideas, or find out how to be added to the Christmas card list, please drop me a line:
Hi everyone!!! Today is the first day of fall, and I’d like to announce that my commission list will be closing soon, so if you want to get something drawn by me, shoot me a message via the contact me! page, or on facebook (@MaeganCookcreates).
As we wrap up September, I am still playing a glorious round of catch-up with #sketchtember2016 (check out the tag on tumblr or instagram, so much talent!!!), but I’m only a day behind right now, so that’s not too shabby. I’ve been on the fence about doing inktober this year since life’s a little crazy atm, but I found a fun prompt for witches, and will make a concerted effort to participate. 😀
In the interim, please help me out by taking a second to share your opinion in my poll so I can see what I should be working on, going into the new season:
It has been a wild & crazy summer so far; I hope some of you made it out to the shows I’ve attended this year and got to say hello!
I just wanted to post a quick-update to let you guys know I’m totally spread all over my work like a fried egg. Er– well, maybe not the best of analogies, but I hope it kinda gets the point across. Here’s the run-down:
Jug band jamborees started long ago in the mountains of Tennessee. Musicians gathered in the moonlight to make joyful noise on washtubs, washboards, kazoos, banjos, tambourines, and drums. Bug Band Jamboree follows the musical adventure of one such band, Wilhelmina Jean and the Thumpers. Bug Band Jamboree captures the loose, foot-stomping rhyme scheme and lyrics of traditional American jug band music. Readers will love the exuberant pace and delight in the folksy atmosphere of the Deep South. This is a lively, lyrical story about the power of music and the power of compromise.

(MY FIRST CHILDREN’S BOOK! WHEEE!)
Steven Universe Bust set:
I’ve got all the main gems, but I feel like Lion, Connie, and the fusions might need to be added one day. Lol. So many characters!
Yes, this counts as a project. I went through and updated the galleries so they’re better organized, as well as separating the published/project section so if you’re looking for particular work I’ve done, it should be easier to find. I’ve also launched a mailchimp account, and you can sign up for updates & newsletters to be directly sent to you from the Contact Me! page.
Projects In Progress
Yes, the novel that consumed my November last year is still not done. It’s sooooooo close though. So close! I’ve finally reached a point where I can reschedule working on it between other freelance projects. Then, out to my eager beta readers for a draft overhaul, and onto editing.
This is something I’ve been on the fence about announcing, but it’s getting close to publication time, so I’ll throw it up: look for some upcoming announcements as my work has been accepted in a few publications that I’ll be able to share when they come out!
In an effort to boost my writing, I have started churning out some short stories. A few of them will be available on wattpad for reading, as well as a couple that will be published by the end of the year. :3
Art, Art, and more Art!
On top of all that, there is more! Hahaha. I’ve also been working on some commissions and client work that while I can’t share yet, is pretty cool. Hope to making a lot more announcements soon!
P.S.– if anyone is wondering, Chapter 5 of TWND is in progress at last, subscribe on tapastic for updates!
That’s all for now! Good luck to those going back to school already, and happy remaining summer to everyone!!! *begins to dream about pumpkin spice and s’mores*
It’s Memorial day, and for me, that marks the beginning of what’s probably my favorite season: SUMMER!
The days of fresh vegetables, pool living, and sweaty seats. Ahhhh…. at least there’s ice cream and A/C to get us through the hottest part in a few months…. but, I digress! Summer is also the season for Comic Conventions!!! I’m happy to announce I’m locked down for two events this year (sorry it’s not more– but project production and all, y’know?) and here are the respective cons:
I am also open for commissions through September/October and will be taking commissions in person at the shows as well, so make sure you check out the FAQ page to get an idea of my pricing and what I draw; if you have any questions– don’t hesitate to shoot me a message on Facebook or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
